About Brothers Tapworks

Brothers Tapworks is a taproom, not a brewery, on the Last Chance Gulch pedestrian mall in downtown Helena. It pours about 40 rotating handles of Montana and regional craft beer, wine, cider, and seltzer, and it is owned by a former Montana governor and his brother. The room doubles as a small community event space. It hosts weekly trivia and bingo, a summer live music series on the mall out front, ticketed wine tastings, Saturday workout classes, and pint nights that raise money for local groups such as Helena Area Habitat for Humanity and Wild Montana.

The taproom is at 40 S. Last Chance Gulch on the walking mall, so there is no parking at the door. Metered street parking on Park Avenue and the numbered cross streets and the city lots and garages a block or two off the mall are the usual options. Hours posted on the taproom's site are 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Trivia, bingo, and the Tuesday music series are free. The business serves alcohol and its website carries an 18-and-over gate, so ask staff before bringing minors.

What happens here

  • Free trivia at 6 p.m. one weeknight: Visit Helena's calendar lists it as Trivia Tuesday (6 to 7:30 p.m.), while the taproom's own site lists Trivia Wednesday at 6 p.m.
  • Sunday Bingo from 4 to 5 p.m., free, with prizes
  • Tuesdays at the Trolley, a free live music series on the walking mall outside the taproom from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in summer, moved indoors in rain
  • Barre and Brews workout classes every other Saturday, $10
  • Ticketed wine tastings ($25) and Community Conversations talks with local speakers
  • Fundraiser pint nights for nonprofits, such as Barks and Brews and Habitat for Humanity nights

Good to know

  • Trivia and bingo are free and tables fill, so arrive 20 to 30 minutes before the start time.
  • The trivia weekday is listed as Tuesday on Visit Helena and Wednesday on the taproom's own site; check the Events page at brothers-tapworks.com or the taproom's Facebook page before you go.
  • Tuesdays at the Trolley is outdoors on the mall; bring a layer, since Helena evenings cool off quickly even in July.
