Halloween in Helena: common questions

- Downtown, Little Tykes Trick or Treat runs 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 31 along the Last Chance Gulch Walking Mall, with more than 50 businesses handing out candy. The Original Governor's Mansion and the trunk or treats listed above add more stops. After dark, families trick-or-treat door to door in the neighborhoods.

- Downtown's event is 1 to 4 p.m. Neighborhood trick-or-treating starts around dusk. We have not found official hours published by the City of Helena, so porch lights are the usual signal that a house is handing out candy.

- Yes. The Candy Jam at the Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds is indoors, with bounce houses, games and hot dogs, and it is free. Late October in Helena can bring snow, so it is worth sizing costumes to fit over a coat.
