About Centennial Park
Centennial Park, listed by the City of Helena as Centennial/Bausch Park, covers about 58 acres between Carroll College and North Last Chance Gulch near the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds and the YMCA. It holds the Helena Skate Park, a free concrete park of more than 15,000 square feet with two bowls; Paws Park, a fenced dog park with separate big-dog and small-dog areas; city softball diamonds that Carroll College's team also uses; multiuse sport fields, sand volleyball, a playground, a bike track, a climbing feature, horseshoe pits, community gardens, picnic shelters, and gazebos. A 1.25-mile paved loop connects to the Centennial Trail.
The park's address is 1250 N. Last Chance Gulch, Helena, MT 59601, with parking lots off Last Chance Gulch and near the YMCA. It is free and open daily; the city Parks and Recreation office (406-447-8463) handles shelter reservations on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The skate park and dog park are unstaffed and open to the public. The biggest annual event is the Capital City Fourth of July celebration, a free morning program with bounce houses, free hot dogs and root beer floats, and a flag ceremony that drew about 2,000 people in recent years.
