About Lewis & Clark Brewing Co.
Lewis & Clark Brewing Co. is a family-owned Helena brewery that has produced beer for more than 20 years; its Miner's Gold hefeweizen is its best-known label. The brewery and tap room occupy a complex on Dodge Avenue whose oldest piece is an 1885 stone smokehouse built by T.C. Power, later joined by a three-story ice house and the Montana Packing and Provisions plant. For about 70 years the site was the Columbia Paint factory, and the paint-splattered factory staircase was left in place during the conversion. The tap room says it has hosted more than 1,000 musical events and books up to five events a week.
The tap room is at 1535 Dodge Ave., Helena, MT 59601 (brewery offices at 1517 Dodge Ave.), in the industrial area northeast of downtown, with its own parking lot. It opens daily at 11:30 a.m. Vigilante Pizza operates inside, and there is a game room with pinball and a golf simulator. Live music moves to the outdoor patio stage from mid-June through August and to the indoor stage the rest of the year and in bad weather. Thursday shows are free; Friday shows carry a $5 to $10 cover. Pinball events are 18 and over.
