About Grandstreet Theatre Mainstage Season

Grandstreet Theatre is Helena's community and professional theatre, founded in August 1975 by Carl Darchuck, who staged the company's first show, 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,' in the ballroom of the historic Placer Hotel. The company moved into its current home in August 1976: a Romanesque granite building built in 1901 as a Unitarian church, later used as Helena's public library from 1933 to 1976. The theatre runs a school serving more than 350 students a year in acting, dance and a conservatory program, alongside its mainstage season of community and youth productions.

The 2026-27 season, Grandstreet's 51st, includes CLUE: Live On Stage (Oct. 9-25, 2026), the holiday show How the Grinch Stole Christmas performed by Theatre School students at the Helena Civic Center Auditorium (Dec. 11-13, 2026), and the musical COME FROM AWAY (April 16-May 2, 2027) at the theatre's 200-seat home at 325 N. Park Ave. Tickets for CLUE ran $23 to $27 per seat; pricing is set per show. The box office is reached at (406) 447-1574, Monday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m.

What happens

  • Community mainstage productions with local volunteer casts (e.g. CLUE: Live On Stage, COME FROM AWAY)
  • Young Performers Mainstage shows featuring Theatre School students, including a December holiday production
  • Grandstreet Theatre School classes, camps and a conservatory program for students of all ages
  • Performances inside a restored 1901 Romanesque granite building that once served as Helena's public library

Tips

  • The Grinch is staged at the Helena Civic Center Auditorium, not at the Grandstreet building on N. Park Ave, check the venue on each ticket before heading out
  • The theatre seats only about 200, so popular shows like COME FROM AWAY can sell out; buy ahead through grandstreettheatrehelena.ludus.com
  • Ticket prices are set per production and vary by night (matinee vs. weekend evening); check the specific show page rather than assuming a flat price
