About Helena Art Walk
Helena Art Walk is a free downtown evening held three times a year, in spring, summer and fall, when Last Chance Gulch shops, restaurants and galleries stay open late and each hosts a local artist. Downtown Helena Inc. ran it for years; after that group suspended its 2024 events and voted to dissolve in December 2023, the Helena Business Improvement District, which now operates as Downtown Helena, took over its events and Omerta Arts stepped in to host the Art Walk. The 2026 dates are Friday, May 8, and Friday, November 13, both from 4 to 8 p.m., with the summer edition in between. The 2025 Fall Art Walk was November 7.
Everything is free and self-guided. Participating businesses host an artist for the evening; you wander the Walking Mall and the side streets off Last Chance Gulch, look, talk and buy directly from the makers, with no tickets or check-in. The Fall Art Walk on November 13, 2026, is the last of the year and doubles as an early holiday shopping night; Carroll College's Saints' Shoppe has set up at it in past years. Downtown Helena's office at 330 N. Jackson Street (406-447-1535) is the contact for a list of stops. Sunset in mid-November is before 5 p.m., so most of the walk happens after dark along lit storefronts.

Tips
- Start at one end of Last Chance Gulch and work the length of it so you do not double back.
- Park once; the Walking Mall is closed to cars and everything is within a few blocks.
- Bring a card; many artists sell originals and prints on the spot.
- For the November walk, dress for cold; you will be outside between stops.
